116. Thank You Bea Arthur

chris and i were out doing a bit of shopping today. as i got back into the car after running into a store he said he had some sad news. then he showed me his phone and there was an article. bea arthur passed away at the age of 86. it made me tear up.....

i have and always will absolutely love and adore The Golden Girls. always.

i remember in college my friend heather and i would take time each night and watch an hour of The Golden Girls and then an hour of Designing Women on Lifetime. now i watch each day after work on the Hallmark channel for an hour. doesn't matter that i've seen each episode a dozen times or more - i still love them! i own 3 seasons on DVD and can't wait to get the rest.

and speaking of those dvd's - chris and i are going to watch a few of the episodes in honor of dorothy. (chris likes them too!)

so here's to you dorothy. thank you for being a friend! you will be missed!

hmph. i don't normally get all sad like this about someone i didn't even know. i just really really loved that show. thanks bea.

37. Love the Oldies

just changed my playlist again - god how i love the oldies :)

i worked with a guard yesterday who - when i mentioned oldies - made this gagging noise. i was shocked. i then asked him - as i do a lot of people upon meeting them - if he at least liked the beatles. he stared at me blankly. i asked him if even knew any of the beatles and he slowly replied 'john lennnnnooon...i think'. dear god in heaven - what is happening to the youth? i'll give you not liking their music but to not even know them?? no excuse - bad parenting. sigh......

but...i do work with another guard who upon realizing we liked the same type of music mentioned that i chose my first university based on a CSNY (if you don't know this band shame on you) song (and yes - i chose my place of higher education based on a rock and roll band - but it was very history related). he knew right away - Kent State and the song was Ohio. and this guard was younger than the dumb one - so there is hope out there i suppose......

36. To Cut!

i'm going to do it!

i just made an appointment at the JUUT (i think that's how you spell it) salon for september 13th - the day i will try on my wedding dress again! the salon itself is pretty expensive but since i'm rather nervous about chopping it off i want it to be good. not that places like cost cutters and trade secret are not good but i haven't had the best of luck there - very hit or miss - (anyone remember the time when they decided to layer my bangs! ack!). so i'm shelling out a few more bucks and crossing my fingers.

i'm also going to be getting it styled like i would for the wedding so i get the full effect. so - be on the lookout for a cut angled (or not) bob cut with some volume in the back (ala early 60's). if you find something let me know - i've been looking but haven't seen exactly what i'm looking for.

alright - now i'm off to the gym. must go to gym before i can play with all the cute stuff i just bought at the yarn store :) (someone really should ban me from it - i went in to buy one small thing and ended up leaving with about ten more....)

27.Golden

we joined a gym!

after checking out a few establishments we decided on Gold's Gym. i was really impressed with their staff, the equipment, the class options (super excited to do yoga and pilates) - they also have a private section for woman only! that was a huge plus for me - it's just more comfortable for me. it's right off the woman's locker room and the equipment is really nice! the locker rooms were also a bonus - no mass row of showers - very private. chris was impressed with the pool - he's missed it since we moved from our last place that had one.

so yeah - we are going to get rid of that "happy/nesting" fat that we accumulated after we started dating!

and now we're going to enjoy a relaxing evening at home (chris is on squad). make some dinner. watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, research our honeymoon to Greece...etc....

12. Wandering....

today is one of those saturdays where chris works and i'm left to my own devices.

i woke up a little before 10 and have fallen into my normal 'chris works saturday routine' of knitting and watching history channel shows about nazi's or the bible (do they ever have anything else on?).

i'm attempting to get myself in 'DO SOMETHING' mode! cleaning. exercising. i got myself into the room where the treadmill is but then i sat down at the computer and started blogging. i really just want to sit and knit more - i know i'm accomplishing something by doing that but it doesn't really feel like it.

alright - enough talking. i must get on the treadmill (aka return to the couch and craft)!

p.s. hope you all had a wonderful 4th of july! chris and i spent the day visiting kelly and christian and then we saw chris's best man bryan and his wife kari. we did not end up seeing any fireworks - chris was on squad and so we had to stick pretty close to home. instead we watched the sci-fi channel's 24 hour Twlight Zone marathon. i love that show.

2. Knitting is Dangerous

when most people think of knitting sweet images of little old ladies and balls of yarn come to mind - not images of hazardous accidents.

i was calmly knitting away on my couch last evening when i had to pause for a moment and untangle my yarn. while i did this i popped the end of one needle into my mouth - it's never been a problem. when my yarn was untangled i decided to switch seating positions and in doing so i bumped the end of the needle in my mouth. it rammed up into the roof of my mouth and gouged out a nice line of it. OW!

while it was nothing that sent me to the ER it is painful. (eating frosted flakes for breakfast reminded me of this) so yeah - knitting is dangerous - be careful!

1. Welcome!

hello!

i figured since i'd told everyone i'd moved over here i'd best go ahead and actually post something! not much to say though. pretty lazy weekend......

i went and bought some new yarn for a new special project :) (i really should be banned from the yarn store...) but they have these cute little bags now and whenever you use it to shop there you save 5%! how can i resist? now i just have to get all of my yarn organized! i bought some cute little wall hanging compartments from IKEA to store it all in but i have yet to hang them. speaking of IKEA - chris and i have become rather fond of the 'as-is' section. half the time there is nothing noticably wrong with the stuff and when you can find this shelf for 50% off (and i've been wanting it f-o-r-e-v-e-r) how can you pass it up?

what else? perhaps you're wondering why i started a new blog when it's pretty much just the same as the old one? i needed a change. as much as i love black, white and red i wanted to brighten things up. sure - i could have changed the background colors on the old one but so many of my posts were in light colors that you wouldn't have been able to read them and well...i wanted a new blog! i might jump back and forth between the two - we'll see. i also needed a new name. since you all know i hate my job i didn't want that association brought into my house every time i blogged. and as much as i loved it's catchiness - this one just states the obvious.

and with that i am off to start my new knitting project. or perhaps i'll read (seeing as how book club meets in a week and i just got the book today!)
